• Total $6.4 million project involved the removal and replacement of the Highway 11 bridge over the CN railroad tracks in Koochiching County.

• New bridge and approach have increased width (10-foot wide) paved shoulders.

• New bridge will provide greater vertical clearance and width over the CN railroad tracks.

• Settlement of the roadway was anticipated at the bridge during design.  This settlement was mitigated using UL-FGA lightweight fill.

• A geogrid-reinforced UL-FGA layer along the shoulder of the approach embankment was constructed to alleviate settlement and slope stability concerns.
