• AvalonBay Communities is expanding their footprint in the greater NYC area with a new 172 unit condominium/apartment development at Harbor Isle in the Town of Hempstead on Long Island. 

• To raise the site to be above the flood plain and support the resilience of this development for years to come, site grades needed to be raised 5-6 feet over a majority of the area.

• UL-FGA was used to raise the elevation on the 11-acre site without inducing settlement and to avoid other ground improvement and deep foundations. 

• UL-FGA was also utilized as MSE backfill in several segmental retaining walls. 

• The high porosity of UL-FGA was approved to be used for stormwater storage across the site.
