• Shirley Chisholm Park sits at the former Pennsylvania and Fountain Avenue Landfills which were operational from 1956 to 1983. After the landfills were closed, the work to reclaim and repurpose the 407 acres of land as a future park began.
• The site rises 130 feet above sea level, and the park offers views to the Empire State Building, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, the Jamaica Bay, and the New York Harbor.
• The new Fountain Lawn Patio area is utilizing sized (0.875 inch – 1.5 inch) UL-FGA to facilitate the creation of the Skybowl feature. The UL-FGA was used in combination with EPS geofoam.
