• The $75 million dollar Rockwell Integrated Sciences Center at Lafayette College building brings together Lafayette’s biology, computer science, environmental science, and neuroscience departments to promote the integration of different sciences and to foster collaboration and innovation.
• The five-story, 104,000 square-foot academic science and laboratory building featuring a basement, laboratories, a vivarium, greenhouse, classrooms and administrative spaces achieved a LEED Gold certification and a 46% reduction in energy usage and a 40% reduction in water usage.
• The building is built in to the sloped terrain and was designed to fit between and connect to two adjacent buildings, the project features a dramatic four-level atrium, floors designed for sensitive equipment, and landscaped plazas on Level 2 and 3.
• UL-FGA was used as lightweight fill to build up the landscaped plaza areas in order to minimize lateral earth pressures acting on the new structure.
